GILBERTON CLASSICS ILLUSTRATED #1-101 HUGE RUN OF FIRST PRINT (O) COMICS + CGCs

UP FOR SALE IS: GILBERTON CLASSICS ILLUSTRATED #1-101, ALL ORIGINAL (O) FIRST PRINT COMICS , WHICH INCLUDES 33 CGC GRADED SLABS! THE FIRST 20 ISSUES ARE ALL CGC! Ultra rare Issue Number 1 (1st print) - "The Three Musketeers" is CGC Graded 6.0 (Fine). For those of you who know about the history of comics , you will immediately see the significance and value of this collection.

Classic Comics (which then became Classics Illustrated in Issue 35) had many reprints in their line of comics of great literary works, but the original, first editions that went to print, usually marked by collectors as (O), are the most sought after by serious collectors today. This collection of issues #1-101 (the hardest to find issues in nice condition) are all the original, 10 cent issues (up to issue #81, and then issues #81 - 101 the originals changed to 15 cent covers). Each issue has been meticulously researched by a Classic Comics/Classic Illustrated hobbyist to ensure that you are getting ALL ORIGINAL FIRST PRINTS ISSUES! Please see notes below on each book for more details.

The non-CGC books all come in a 4-mil mylar sleeve , acid free backing boards, and each have a sheet of Microchamber Interleaving Archival Paper carefully inserted behind the front cover to help preserve ink quality and chemical composition of the cover and frontispiece. The CGC cases are also kept in a Mylar sleeve. All of the CGC cases have been properly stored and are holding up great with minimal, if any, blemishes. NOTES: Classics Illustrated ran to issue #164.

The HRN number, when available, is how collectors determine if the comic is a first print or not. The HRN is oftentimes one number off from the issue number. Please see a Classics Illustrated comics reference guide if you would like to see a full list of HRNs for each issue, and how they determine print number. No HRN listed, with a ten cent cover, automatically signals first print issue. A ten cent cover is another way to identify a first-print issue.

I guarantee all 101 of these comics are first print issues! Purple Label CGCs are for RESTORED GRADE comics, which means the comic book, while original, has been somehow restored or modified prior to encapsulation, and the precise modifications of the restoration are listed on the CGC label. There are four total purple label CGCs in this collection, listed below.

The rest are all Blue Labe l CGCs. Issue #1 (The Three Musketeers) is a professionally restored original (Purple Label, CGC) released in 10/1941 - an 80 years old book! You will be hard pressed to find such a beautiful copy of this first print graded at 6.0 or higher, under any color of label.

When they do hit the market, the cost is very high. Same goes with #44 (Mysteries of Paris) at 8.0 (1947). These are true vintage, Golden Age books. You will see this collection is holding up very well overall, with quite sharp color and book integrity! ABOUT ME: I have lovingly and painstakingly put this collection together over the years, my goal being to seek out original (O) issues. I had intended to complete the full run to #164, but decided to take a breather after I got the first 100, which was the most difficult (and costly) part. Now, I will be auctioning the collection, and several other rare, high-quality comics in the weeks ahead at better-than-competitive pricing, many as no reserve auctions! My kids are in private school now, and my comic sales will go toward funding their education. That being said, these are purely "grown-ups" collectibles and have never (while in my possession) been handled by children, nor are they reader copies. Check back for more great deals to come! IMPORTANT NOTE ON EARLIER CGC COMIC HOLDERS The CGCs comics in this collection have been encapsulated in the older CGC holders, and earlier CGC holders are not fully sealed on the sides, but have a very narrow slit about the width of a sheet of paper, as well as an approximately two-inch notch or area of perforation on the righthand side of the case, halfway down. The newer holders are different and dont have this notch, nor the same give on the sides. However, the corners of the older cases, such as with these, are still sealed tight and cannot be opened without breaking the case.

For more information on the earlier version CGC holders, please see the following video. (337)Frequently Asked Questions about Comic CGC holders -YouTube. THIS STYLE OF CASING WAS NORMAL FOR ITS TIME, AND DOES NOT SIGNAL A TAMPERED WITH OR COUNTERFEIT BOOK. However, please notify me initially within 3 days of receipt of the collection if wish to return it. My goal is to provide you with a 5-Star experience!

If for any reason youre not satisfied, PLEASE contact me prior to leaving feedback. My goal is to serve you and see fully satisfied customers! THE COLLECTION IS AS FOLLOWS. NOTES (O) = Original Issue. CGC 6.0 - Restored grade , original Elliot Pub.
